DO’S : Means What You Will Do During The Yatra.
It is mandatory for every registered Yatri to collect his / her RFID Card from designated locations in Jammu / Kashmir Division before embarking on the Yatra.
Carry your Aadhaar details for collecting RFID Cards.
Wear your RFID tag on your neck at all times during Yatra for safety & security.
Do carry sufficient woolen clothing as the temperature may sometimes abruptly fall to below 5 degree Celsius.
Do carry umbrella, wind cheater, raincoat, and waterproof shoes as the weather in the Yatra area is unpredictable.
Do keep your clothes and eatables in a suitable waterproof bag to avoid your belongings getting wet.
Do keep in your pocket a note containing the name, address, and mobile telephone number of any Yatri proceeding for Darshan on the same date as you are doing, for emergency purposes.
Do carry your identity card, driving license, and Yatra permit with you.
DONT'S : Means What You Will Not Do Strictly During The Yatra.
No registered Yatri shall be allowed to embark on Yatra without an RFID Card.
Don’t ignore the symptoms of high-altitude illness.
Don’t drink alcohol, caffeinated drinks, or smoke.
Don’t stop at places which are marked by warning notices.
Don’t use slippers because there are steep rises and falls on the route to the Holy Cave. Only wear trekking shoes with laces.
Don’t attempt any shortcuts on the route, as doing so would be dangerous.
Do not do anything during your entire forward/return journey which could cause pollution or disturb the environment of the Yatra area. Use of plastics is strictly banned in the State and is punishable under law.
Useful Information And Tips
The Yatri must wear the RFID Card around his/her neck during the entire duration of the Yatra.
Every Yatri must carry an RFID Card.
No Yatri will be allowed to cross the Access Control Gate (ACG) without an RFID Card.
Every registered Yatri must collect his/her unique RFID Card from any of the centres established in Jammu/Kashmir divisions after successful eKYC-based biometric authentication before embarking on the Yatra.
To register for the Yatra, intending Yatris must have a valid Compulsory Health Certificate (CHC) issued by authorized doctors.
Yatris can register through either offline mode (designated branches of SBI, J&K Bank, Yes Bank, and PNB across India) or online mode.
Please walk 4–5 km daily, consult your doctor, practice deep breathing exercises, and drink plenty of water to prepare yourself for the Yatra.
Please do not undertake the Yatra without proper shoes and woollen clothes, and always carry your Identity Card, Registration Permit, RFID Card, raincoat, and umbrella.
Persons above 70 years of age, below 13 years of age, and women with more than 6 weeks of pregnancy are not permitted to undertake the pilgrimage.
Please consult your doctor and get a health check-up done before embarking on your journey. Do not forget to carry your Registration Permit and RFID Card.
Only BSNL, Jio, and Airtel postpaid SIM cards work in the Yatra area. Prepaid and Pre-on-Post SIM cards can be purchased at the Baltal and Nunwan Base Camps.
Walk slowly while ascending, take regular breaks, and descend immediately to a lower elevation if you experience any symptoms of sickness or discomfort. Seek nearby medical assistance.
Keep your clothes and eatables in a suitable waterproof bag to protect your belongings from getting wet.
Women Yatris should avoid wearing sarees during trekking and instead wear Salwar Kameez, Pant-Shirt, tracksuits, or other recommended trekking attire.
Do not commence the journey on an empty stomach and avoid overexerting yourself beyond your normal physical capacity.
Travel in groups along with porters, horses, or ponies, and ensure they remain within your sight. Help fellow Yatris whenever possible.
Do not attempt shortcuts. Walk only on designated tracks and never stop at places marked with warning notices.
Seek police assistance and request a public announcement immediately if any member of your group goes missing.
Free food facilities are available throughout the Yatra area at Langars. Consume plenty of carbohydrates and follow the prescribed food menu.
The Holy Cave is located at approximately 12,800 feet. Take necessary precautions against high-altitude sickness and avoid overnight stays at the Holy Cave.
Do not ignore symptoms of high-altitude sickness. Avoid alcohol, caffeinated drinks, and smoking during the Yatra.
Do not throw used plastic bottles or other waste in open areas. Help maintain cleanliness throughout the Yatra route.
Earth, water, air, fire, and sky are integral parts of Lord Shiva. Respect the environment and avoid any activity that may pollute the Yatra area.
Perform the Yatra with a pious mind and refrain from throwing coins, currency notes, chunni, or other offerings at the Holy Lingam.
